Porco latta / Piggy box

Non è la prima volta che faccio queste scatolette ricoperte. In origine sono scatole del burro Soresina ma - dopo un certo numero di uova al tegamino e ravioli burro e salvia - con un po' di carta intorno sono pronte per una nuova vita.

Ne ho fatta una tempo fa, che ho dato a mia sorella con dentro ritagli di carte, embellishments e parti di biglietto pronte. Mi capita di stampare qualcosa che mi viene magari anche benino, ma poi al momento di comporre il biglietto il colore è sbagliato, o le dimensioni inadatte...

In quell'occasione mia nipote (la figlia) l'ha vista, e me ne ha commissionata una ''con più verde'', da usare per metterci le monetine che le restano in tasca.

E' nata quindi la Piggy Box, in omaggio al porcellino di cara memoria, quello che alla fine si doveva per forza rompere per recuperare i risparmi... a questa basta sfilare il tappo!

Ho fatto un taglio sul coperchio per poterci infilare le monete, come sul dorso dei maialini salvadanaio. Manca ancora qualcosa al tutto, ma non so che cosa: in genere preferisco le cose semplici e non vorrei appesantire troppo il tutto...


This is not the first time I make these covered tins. They're butter tins, but after a number of eggs or ravioli with sage and butter they're ready for a new life.

I made one, time ago, and I gave it to my sister, with some scraps of patterned papers and ready card parts in it. Sometimes I stamp something that comes out nicely, but when I have to put together the card the stamped image has the wrong color, or the size is not perfect...

When I handed it to my sister, my niece saw it and asked me to make one more ''with more green'' for her to use to hold the excess coins she has sometimes in her pockets.

The Piggy Box was born: I used the piggy stamp in honor of the old piggy bank that was to be broken to take out the money. With this one she'll just have to lift the lid!

I made a slot on the lid, to put the coins in, just like the one that was on the back of the old pigs. The box still lacks something, but I can't decide what. I usually prefer to keep things very simple, and I don't want to make it too 'heavy'.
